Letter Writing

I miss writing letters. Going to the stationary store and purchasing note cards and pretty paper with matching envelopes was hobby of mine. I would go home (wherever home was at the time) and I would pull out my address book, the one with a picture of a little girl kissing a toad on the cover, and I would write a letter. I would write to friends that I hadn't seen for a while-- girls I used to know, boys on missions. I would update them on my life, who I was crushing on, what I was studying, funny anecdotes and then I would write their address on the envelope and seal it with a cute sticker and send it on its way. Weeks or months later I often got a reply in the mail, often with pictures! Well worth the wait.

I want to get back to writing letters. I have let the convenience of email and facebook take over the thoughtfulness of writing an actual letter. I miss getting letters in the mail filled with updates, pictures and warm wishes. Email is so easy but not very personal. It fits into our busy lives and I use it frequently but it lacks the luster of real mail. Remember real mail?

I want to simplify my life enough to make time to write to friends who are far away. To show them that I care enough to sit down and write to them maybe even in cursive. That is my desire this new year. Simplify, simplify and return to old fashioned letter writing. Technology is great and defiantly has its place in my life but it doesn't have to rule my life. So just you wait, you may be recipient of a real honest to goodness hand written letter soon.

Addresses please!

I love sending cards and letters! Email is nice, but I like going to the store and picking out the perfect card for someone :)

I write letters to my nieces and nephew, and love when I get one back from them
