BOSTON

EASTER WEEKEND 2009!!!!
Thanks for the Fruit Basket Mom!!!!

Easter weekend Matt and I took the family (Peter) up to Boston to visit my sisters. The drive up wasn't bad, oh except for all the traffic. We a had a really fun time. I fell in love with Concord, MA and want to live there when I grow up.

We went to Concord on Sunday after church. We went to Walden Pond and tried to walk around it but it was too cold for Peter. The wind was fierce. We settled for looking at the replica of his cottage and then moved on.

I was an English Major and I love early American lit. I had always wanted to go to Walden and Concord and see where the second revolution began, the literary revolution. We went to the Orchard House. That is where Louisa May Alcott lived. Then we went to Emerson's home and we even saw where Nathanial Hawthorn lived. I was in literary heaven!!! I tried to express to everyone how cool it was for us to be walking in the same footsteps as the first American authors. American Literature began in Concord! I don't know how excited they were but I was thrilled! That was the highlight if our trip for me.

This was the highlight of the trip for Matt.
Good old Fenway Park. He is not a Red Sox fan per say, just a baseball fanatic!

This was the highlight of the trip for Peter. He loves Computers

And , well, maybe he loves horses. He wasn't too sure about the police horses we ran into at the Quincy Market but he was definalty interested in them.

We walked the Freedom Trail and saw Cheers and all that. I noticed that Boston has some of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen in the U.S.. So big and ornate and with so much American history. I was excited to see one church where Phillis Wheatly had attended (she was the first African Amercian writer and a slave). So much literary history and American History all in same place.

We had a lovely time visiting Boston. I thought the city was very clean and easy to navigate. Pretty parks and really old creepy looking cemetaries. My sister Jen works at the MASS. Eye and Ear Infirmary. We stopped in to see her and she gave me a free ear exam!

It was cool to see Jen at work. She has worked very hard to get where she is and we are very proud of her.

I miss my sisters very much and always have fun with them even if we are only just chillin' and watching movies. (We watched Twilight On Sunday night. I liked it better the frist time I saw it. The second time I thought it was kinda silly. I don't think I'll buy it but I will go see the next movie on Opening night. Because that was so much fun! )
Jen and Em are leaving Boston soon so it was nice to get up there and see how the other half lives. Over all rating of Boston: A+

I can picture you now trying to convince everyone of the excitement of walking around literary history at Walden Pond! I love your enthusiasm for learning and life. I've always loved that about you. I'm glad you had a good time. Next time come visit ME!

PS: I didn't know Jen and Em were leaving Boston soon? Why is that? Well regardless I'm glad you got to go and visit. Maybe we can plan one of our girls trips up there one of these days... do cape cod too.

Sounds like fun! You look fantastic. I love Boston but I haven't been to some of those sites and think I should go to them with you, that way I can really appreciate them.
