I have a friend who hears music in her head. As she hears it she has to get to a piano to plunk the notes out and write it down before she forgets it. She has composed some very pretty compositions. Me, I hear stories, almost constantly. There is never a moment when I am not telling myself a tale. Usually I forget them because I am terrible about carrying around a pen and paper, so the stories fade and never formulate themselves. I have about 3-4 unfinished stories in my head right now. The stories keep coming and I need to begin to write them down or the stories may stop all together.
One step in the right direction I have made is obtaining a digital tape recorder. I now take it everywhere I go and record story and blog entry ideas when they pop up. I like this method because it works. Talking out loud to a tape recorder really helps organize my brain and sort out all of the muck that runs about there. So now I can record my ideas before they fade into oblivion and go back to them and write them down when I can get to the computer, like after Peter and Matt go to bed --Nothing like burning the midnight oil.
So, if you happen upon someone who is talking to themselves, don't judge, they may be talking to a tape recorder.

I have conversations with myself all of the time. The only way I am able to sort out all of my thoughts is to go over them out loud...of course I do reserve these conversations for when I am alone :). I think the tape recorder idea is fantastic! I look forward to hearing your stories
