Dear Reader,

Dear Reader, last night I put off my slumber to read the last three chapters of Jane Eyre and I was filled with tranquility. It had been many years hence that I had read the novel. Although I had seen the moving pictures many times I had forgotten how much the book is superior to that of the films, any of them, as their are several versions. I love it when she will not marry St. John because he does not love her. I especially esteem the portion when he tries to manipulate her in the name of God to be his wife. That part disquieted my mind. He may have been a righteous God serving man but he was trying to manipulate her. He was a rather self-serving man. Then just as she is about to give in she hears the voice of her Mr.Rochester calling her name! God answering his prayers and hers in the same instant. It has wonderful ending, Reader, I entreat you to read this novel again and again so that your heart may be lightened with blithe.

I love how in older novels the characters address the reader directly. C.S. Lewis does in the Narnia series as does Charlotte Bronte in Jane Eyre. Those are just two that come to mind. If you know of any others please share.
