Labor Day Weekend

WASHINGTON DC here we come! Matt and I both lived in the DC metro area when we met so whenever we return to the land of the unbearable beltway it feels like we are coming home (I love driving on the beltway actually, at night or early in the morning is the best because it feels like a race track and is tons of fun!) Matt has an Aunt who lives in DC proper and she offered us her condo while she was away for Labor Day. We jumped on the offer. It was Labor Day weekend 3 years when Matt proposed to me at the world war II memorial.
The closest metro stop from his Aunt’s place is 1 mile. We did a lot of walking and that was nice because we got to see all of the beautiful homes in between Wisconsin and Connecticut Ave. I love to window shop for houses! When we found the metro I was surprised to find out that it was The Cleveland Park stop. The Cleveland Park Metro stop is where Matt and I saw each other for the first time. I still remember how my heart jumped when I saw him coming through the turnstiles, my spirit recognized him right away. Throughout our entire trip I was bombarded with memories of our courtship.
As we journeyed to the Mall we switched trains at Metro Center, and I was sure Matt was sick of my saying, “this is where I got off to go to work”. I worked at the corner of 14th and F.
It was a hot day so we spent a lot of time indoors. We went to the National Gallery of Art where I used to go on my Saturday’s off to explore the art and enjoy a nice Gelato. We went to the Air and Space museum, one of Matt’s favorites.
We also strolled by the Navy Memorial where Matt kissed me for the first time on our first real date. We ended our adventure at the National Zoo. That is where Matt and I went after meeting at the Cleveland Park metro stop.

It is the place where Kristin and Matt became Kristin-and-Matt. Sadly we didn’t get to the World War II memorial (the place were Matt proposed) because doing anything with a baby is just so much more complicated.
We love DC and are so glad we got to experience living there. It is always fun to reminisce but coming back to the present isn't all that bad ether.I have to admitt that I am so happy in my current life that I really wouldn't change a thing!

It was fun to be able to share our memories with Peter even though he is still too young to understand or really care.

He was just glad to get home to his high chair.
