field of light

field of light

I feel as if I have seen the light. How many times have I sat and wondered who I am and what my purpose is, is it to be a teacher so I can inspire the future leaders of our nation, is it to become a big bad Lawyer so I can fearlessly fight for justice? Or is it making millions of dollars selling real estate? For hours on end I sit and get stressed over what kind of woman I should be. Until now.
Recently I have been studing about women's health and wellness. In my studies I have found that it wasn't until women took on the extra burden of being the bread winner, the cook, the nurturer, and everything else that disease in women increased. Women (feminists don't pounce) just arent built to carry the same load of stress as men. Yes, we think we can do everything, and yes we are cognitivly capable, but we shouldn't. Our need to do everything has taken a toll on our health.
Some women don't have the choice, there are single mothers and others who unjustly need to take on the budrens of men, but some of us feel like we need to prove something and that is a load of crap, pure and simple. We have nothing to prove and whatever voice that is telling us that we have something to prove needs to be shut up!
We need to care for ourselves and find peace in womenhood. We are not delicate flowers but we do have to know our limits.
Recently, due to stress, I have put my reproductive health at risk. Being a mother is what I have always wanted, but because of the pressure I feel to live up what this new world's definition of what womenhood is I have stressed my body out. I am not going to do that anymore. I am redefining what womenhood is: it is whatever brings me peace. I know longer have to be ashamed to be a domestic diva (without kids) and can bake my cookies and sell them too! I don't have to become a politican to make a difference in this world! In the words of creativity coach Sark," I don't care, and you can't make me!"
There you have it, I have now entered a field of light and I plan on staying here.

Be careful wonderful women of the world, find whatever brings you peace and cling to it before you wear out and your shinning light begins to fade.

Love the new layout. Yeah, I agree about the stress factor. I need to reduce my stress as well. I'm gonna miss you guys!

This is a realization every women should have. It does not decrease our femininity to know our limits.

If anything it shows greatness to be able to take care of yourself and know your limits.

With kids or without, the greatest work you will ever do to change the world will be within the walls of your own home.
